Love You Mum (2009)
(from the back cover of the DVD)
Sister Evans (Bridget Walters) has been adamant about reliving her patients suffering for as long as she can remember. As Head Sister of Stirling Hospice, an isolated sanctuary for terminal patients, she is left alone to carry out her treatments as she see fit. When a dying mother (Chrissie Page) begs her daughter Belle (Eliza Lovell) to end her suffering, Sister Evans is there to propose a solution that only she can provide.
When the newly appointed Ward Orderly (Richard Lane) stumbles across Evans in the act, he is confronted head-on with the questions that are at the core of "Love You Mum": Do we have the right to end the life of a suffering loved one at their request? Who would do it? Who would allow it? Should the killer be branded saint or monster?
"Love you Mum' Directed by David Ockenden, Produced by Matt Pearson and written by Frances Macaulay Forde deals with euthenasia, a highly debated issue, from a unique perspective and ievitably raises many more questions as the plot develops. This is a piece which bavely recognizes the essential humanity of both sides.
